GCSE & A-Level · from £45 an hour

Computer Science tuition by a classroom teacher.

I’m a secondary Computer Science teacher. I tutor one-to-one, online, with students who are behind, stuck, or just want a higher grade than they’re getting in class.

Still in a school

I teach Computer Science in a secondary school, so I know the specs as they are this year.

One-to-one

No class of thirty. We go at the student’s pace and spend time on the bits that are actually stuck.

Your exam board

AQA, OCR or Edexcel. Lessons follow the paper they will sit, not a generic coding course.

Code and papers

Programming and written questions. Both matter, so we do both.

Tuition

GCSE and A-Level. Same teacher, same hours.

I teach the course they’re actually on. We cover the programming, the theory and how to write answers that pick up marks.

Years 10–11

GCSE Computer Science

Computational thinking, programming, data, networks and the written papers. Useful if they’ve missed chunks, lost confidence, or want a 7–9 and the class isn’t getting them there.

  • Programming they can write themselves, not copy
  • How the papers are marked, including the easy marks people drop
  • AQA, OCR, Edexcel and other common boards

Years 12–13

A-Level Computer Science

Algorithms, theory of computation, architecture and the NEA. The jump from GCSE is bigger than most people expect. We slow that down until it makes sense.

  • Theory they can explain in an exam, not just recognise
  • Help structuring and checking the programming project
  • Extra stretch if they’re thinking about CS at university

Approach

I still teach this
in school.

That sounds small, but it isn’t. Papers and mark schemes change. What they hear in class should match what we practise in tuition.

Lessons are one-to-one. We find what’s going wrong, explain it properly, then do the sort of questions that come up on the exam.

02

First lesson

We work out the gaps and whether we’re a good fit.

Weekly sessions

Same time each week if we can. Practice in between if it helps.

“He’d been copying code in class and hoping for the best. After a few weeks he could actually write the programs himself.”

Rachel

Parent, GCSE

“We didn’t want a general coding tutor. He knew the OCR paper and the bits our school had rushed.”

James

Parent, A-Level

“He stopped dreading the theory paper. Once it was explained properly, the questions looked a lot less random.”

Priya

Parent, GCSE

Fees

£45 an hour, or less if you book a block.

Hours are 60 minutes. Pay as you go if you want to try a few lessons. Book five or ten if you’d rather lock in a weekly slot and a slightly better rate.

Pay as you go

£45

an hour

Book week by week. Fine if you only need a few sessions.

5 lessons

£210

£42 an hour

A month of weekly lessons, paid in one go. Saves £15.

10 lessons

£400

£40 an hour

The better rate if you want a proper run of tuition. Saves £50.

I keep a small number of students so I can prepare properly. Availability is just whatever I still have after school.
